Hemozone Therapy in Atlanta, Georgia

Regenerative medicine  therapies are revolutionary because they encourage and support your body’s own healing and rejuvenation processes to alleviate a variety of aches, pains, and injuries.

One of these treatments, hemozone therapy, combines the power of natural elements with properties from your own body to help you heal faster than before.

Atlanta Innovative Medicine (AIM) is comprised of knowledgeable specialists who have years of experience treating patients utilizing hemozone therapy.

What Is Hemozone Therapy?

Hemozone therapy involves combining platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment with Prolozone injections.

It helps support your body as it works to repair and restore injuries to your tendons. Tendons help create movement by connecting your muscles to your bones. Injured tendons can be quite painful, with swelling and inflammation.

Whether you have an acute injury or chronic dysfunction in one of your tendons, hemozone therapy can help.

Prolozone Therapy

Prolozone therapy combines prolotherapy with ozone injections to bring about pain relief.

Prolotherapy

Prolotherapy uses an irritant, usually in the form of saline or a sugar substance, to trigger your body’s healing process to relieve pain and soothe injuries.

When the irritant is injected into your muscles or joints, your body notices the irritant and signals your immune cells and other healing chemicals to go to the area to treat it. The rationale behind this treatment is that prolotherapy trigger’s your body’s innate healing process.

Prolotherapy can help repair damaged or injured soft tissues in the joint and muscle areas, including your muscle tissue, tendons and ligaments.

Hemozone Ozone Therapy

Ozone injections are a treatment modality where O3 (ozone) gas is injected directly into your body to stimulate healing, similar to the rationale behind prolotherapy.

Ozone has highly reactive properties that make it a useful tool in trying to trigger treatment responses in the body. Ozone therapy injections are also therapeutic because they reduce oxidative stress in your body, which helps prevent both the onset and progression of conditions from various organisms, including:

  • Fungi
  • Yeast
  • Viruses
  • Bacteria
  • Protozoa

When used to treat injured or diseased tissue, ozone increases the flow of blood to the treatment area, bringing healing cells and nutrients with it.

Platelets are a material in your blood that typically help the body clot when injured.

To separate the platelets from the rest of the compounds in your blood, the blood gets spun in a centrifuge. The resulting high concentration of platelets is then injected into your body. This process is called platelet-rich plasma therapy, or PRP therapy.

How PRP Improves Tissue Function

Although the main function of platelets is to help your body clot blood after an injury occurs, platelets have other benefits too. Platelets contain elements like growth factors and cytokines that not only help repair injuries to your body but also encourage the healing process.

Many studies have found that PRP can help treat the following conditions:

  • Wounds
  • Knee osteoarthritis
  • Meniscus tears
  • Lateral epicondylitis, also known as tennis elbow
  • Sports injuries, like joint sprains, pulled muscles, and torn ligaments

PRP is a safe and effective treatment because it uses your own blood and platelets. Your body recognizes your DNA, which further minimizes any minute risk of complications.

Are You a Good Candidate for Hemozone Treatment?

Hemozone therapy is a highly useful and worthwhile treatment for individuals from all walks of life.

Some of the best candidates include those who are in good health overall but are dealing with an early-to-mid-stage health condition.

You’re also a good candidate for hemozone treatment if you’ve received PRP therapy in the past and experienced benefits but want to enhance the results.

If you are pregnant, anemic, suffering from an active infection, or are receiving anti-clotting treatment, we will need to evaluate whether hemozone therapy is an appropriate treatment for you.

What Can Hemozone Injections Treat?

Hemozone injections treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Sports injuries
  • Injuries to joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons

Chronic injuries to your tendons, like jumper’s knee and tennis elbow, generally take a long time to heal. Receiving hemozone therapy helps trigger the healing process while decreasing sensations of pain, which allow you to resume your normal routine faster.

If you are interested in hemozone injections and are wondering whether it would be a good treatment for you, contact us now at 770.416.9995.

What to Expect at Your Hemozone Therapy Appointment

During your treatment with our hemozone, we will begin by drawing your blood to extract the platelets.

After assessing and preparing the treatment site, the platelet-rich plasma is injected into the specified area. We inject the PRP in conjunction with ozone. Since ozone has a highly reactive nature, it magnifies the healing properties of PRP and becomes hemozone.

The whole process takes about 60 minutes in total. It’s a minimally invasive outpatient procedure, which means that you can return to your home or work immediately following your treatment. There’s no downtime required.

You will start to feel the benefits of hemozone therapy within 7-10 days, and most people require 2-3 PRP treatments.

It takes time for your body to heal itself, so after your hemozone injections, practice good self-care and rest.
