Causes

There are numerous conditions that can cause pain to the foot—from bone breaks and fractures to chronic soft tissue injuries, such as plantar fasciitis.

The bottom of your foot contains a thick band of tissue called the plantar fascia, which connects your heel to your toes. When this band of tissue is irritated or inflamed from repetitive stress and excessive tension, the resulting condition is called plantar fasciitis. This is one of the most common and irritating causes of foot pain. The pain is frequently in the heel, but can also affect the arch.

There are a wide range of options for treatment depending on the severity of the condition.
For example, treatment options for plantar fasciitis can include:

    • Anti-inflammatory medication
    • Corticosteroid injections
    • Orthotic shoes
    • Splints
    • Surgery
    • Physical therapy

Our goal is to help you manage and reduce your heel pain, so you can live a healthy and active lifestyle. The team at Atlanta Innovative Medicine includes a neurologist, orthopedist and physical therapist who work together to diagnose the root cause of pain and provide a successful treatment strategy for each patient we see.
